GoG 0.49 - The War of Exhaustion I

A History of War and Those Affected By It
Previous historic documents have established a convention of naming the writer and his position and we shall follow suit. This compilation of events is written by Theodor Hauser, second secretarius aspirant of history from the Karel-Universitas of Einbruck, Uldwen Di´Loges, author of the Pecuniam Facere Ieiumare and Pieter-Jan Smalenburg, svart archivist of Clan Smallburgo. Each writer has been won to write one of the three sections of the main overview, which follows afterwards.

There are a lot of things I can say about von Klages account of history, but as Suprematii are wont to do, they always obfuscate, believing greater issues at play, than really exist. As such, an ordered line of events, especially those that led to the war, those during and after it, has been of small concern for those touched by it, and all strands of society were touched by it, from the lowly peasant whose fields were burned to the most noble of families whose estates were destroyed with fire and steel, to the craftsmen forced to work weapons and armour for armies unable or -willing to pay for their services.

As such it falls to those among our profession to roll up this fragmented age in letters and books, from those who partook to those who participated only from a distance. This overview will only establish the most important facts and further workings on the topic will be required in the future, but as such, this shall suffice as reference.

As we put down these letters, the year turns from 1393 RA, our today, to 1355 RA. It is the year the Kaiserlose Zeit ended officially. Marek von Dorbrugge has officially been recognised by the Große Reichskammer as Kaiser, crowned by imperial hands in Kaynbuehl with a vote of 5 For and 3 Against, as the corresponding seats of election had been created per every seven votes comprised.

His election came as the result of his third military campaign in Borges, where he had won the battle of Marstatt against the pretender Rex Superiori, High Priest of Yerv´Edhaz, and in the same battle taken prisoner, executed him on the morn of Mareks arrival in Kaeynbuehl. Elevated to the highest office for life as Kaiser Marekoi I, we stood on the precipice of a new age.

How We Got Here
The Kaiserlose Zeit, 35 years of feuding, in-fighting and regression without imperial oversight came about after the sudden death of Kaiser Heinrich III., styled the Greedy. With the members of the Reichskammer unable to accept or even elect a single candidate, several of them were raised up instead, either by force or intrigue....
